            Learning outcomes
        
        
            PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Before starting this course, students should have knowledge of general translation theory, fundamentals of specialized translation theories, as well as basic concepts of English grammar, lexicology, and stylistics. They should be able to appropriately apply fundamental translation techniques, identify distinctive and universal features of the national language and culture, plan and evaluate their own work, and use interactive and multimedia tools. They should possess skills in stylistic and translation analysis of texts belonging to prominent genre-stylistic varieties of discourse, approach the analyzed phenomena critically, utilize foreign-language specialized informational sources, and engage in interaction and cooperation in learning situations of exploratory nature.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The aim of the discipline is to enhance the translation competence of master's students and further develop their practical translation skills, which will serve as a foundation for professional and intercultural communication in English. The course aims to familiarize students with the specifics of matrix genre-stylistic characteristics of English scientific-technical, business-economic, press-journalistic, and literary texts, as well as strategies and tactics for their reproduction in Ukrainian translation. It also aims to develop the communicative competence of future philologists for mediating in relevant spheres of social activity.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Educational activities throughout the semester include: Assignments completed during individual work. Oral responses during practical sessions. Translation portfolio. Thematic assessment work.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester evaluation: Knowledge assessment is conducted according to the ECTS system, which includes a two-level evaluation of acquired material. The theoretical preparation is assessed based on learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1-1.3), accounting for 35% of the total grade, while the practical preparation is evaluated based on learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.5), (communication 3.1-3.3), and (autonomy and responsibility 4.1-4.5), accounting for 65% of the total grade. Evaluation of work for Semester 4: Oral responses: LO 1.1-1.2, 2.1-2.3, 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.4 - 6 out of 15 points. Translation portfolio: LO 1.1-1.2, 2.1-2.3, 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.4 - 24 out of 35 points. Thematic assessment work: LO 1.1-1.2, 2.1-2.3, 3.1-3.2, 4.1-4.4 - 5 out of 10 points. Students who earn a minimum passing score of 60 points receive a grade of "pass." Students who do not reach the minimum passing score of 60 points receive a grade of "fail."
