Learning outcomes
PLO 12. To observe the rules of academic integrity. PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in a chosen field of Translation Studies to solve complex tasks and issues, which require updates and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or lacking information and contradictory requirements. PLO 17. To plan, organize, perform and present research and / or innovative developments in a specific field of Translation Studies. PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the academic community in academic publications or presentations at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students should know: Fundamentals of general translation theory. Forms of practical implementation of specialized and literary translation as a means of intercultural communication. Methods, techniques, and approaches to translation of specialized and literary texts of different types and genres. Classical models of representing the translation process. Students should be able to: Conduct linguistic, stylistic, comparative, and pre-translation analysis of texts of different styles and genres. Create oral and written texts of various types and genres in their native and first foreign languages. Collect, analyze, systematize, and interpret language data containing texts of different types and genres. Students should have proficiency in: German language at a level not lower than C1 according to CEFR. Written mediation from the first foreign language to the native language at level C1. Written mediation from the native language to the foreign language at level C1.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to deepen professional competencies in translation theory, provide an in-depth study of methodology, tools, and methods of scientific research in general and translation studies in particular, with a focus on practical research outcomes. The material covered in the course should broaden the theoretical foundations and empirical methods of translation research and their application in the preparation of the master's thesis. The discipline ensures the deepening of general competence in translation theory and the formation of professional competence of master's students in the field of translation studies methodology. The discipline involves expanding the general theoretical foundations of conducting and empirical principles of validating translation research.

Seminar sessions, frontal questioning, group discussions, presentations, individual assignments, module assignments.
Assessment methods and criteria
The evaluation for the course is as follows: Answers to theoretical questions in the form of presentations: 12/20 points. Interpretative and comparative analysis: 12/20 points. Translation/editing of specialized text (from B to A language): 24/40 points. Module control: 12/20 points. The final grade at the end of the semester is based on the student's performance throughout the semester and does not involve additional evaluation measures. Students who have achieved a minimum passing score of 60 points receive a "pass" grade. Students who have not achieved the minimum passing score of 60 points receive a "fail" grade.
