Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics for their resolution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Translation Studies. PLO 8. To assess the historical legacy and new achievements of Translation Studies. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen specialization in Translation Studies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Prior to starting this course, students should have a sufficient level of English language proficiency, basic knowledge of civilization and world literature, theoretical foundations of general translation studies and comparative linguistics. 2. They should possess elementary skills of analytical thinking, data memorization, knowledge synthesis, scientific research, and information management. They should approach analyzed phenomena critically, utilize Ukrainian and English-language specialized informative sources, work with translation studies texts created at different times (from antiquity to the present), produce complex oral and written messages, and engage in interaction and cooperation in learning situations of an exploratory nature.
Course content
The academic discipline "Translation History" is one of the key components of comprehensive training for Masters in the field of knowledge 03 "Humanities," specializing in 035.41 "Philology (Germanic languages and literatures (translation included), major - German)." The discipline involves acquiring systematic knowledge of the history of translation studies thought, extrapolating it to key achievements and controversial points of modern translation theory and practice. Its subject is the study of the unity and diversity of approaches to translation and its theoretical understanding by different nations throughout diachronic development, with a focus on Ukrainian and general European literary history. The discipline aims to comprehend the universal and distinctive features of various national translation traditions, provides an understanding of traditional translation practices and multifaceted national translation phenomena, the genesis and current state of global translation studies thought, and develops skills in analyzing the translation heritage of European civilization as a factor in the contemporary situation in the field of translation studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes lectures, seminars, independent work, discussions, presentations, colloquia, essays, oral and written assignments; credit.
Assessment methods and criteria
Methods of student assessment: Semester assessment: Knowledge assessment follows the ECTS system, which includes a two-level evaluation of the acquired material. It involves evaluating theoretical preparation, which accounts for 60% of the overall grade, including knowledge (1.1-1.5), and evaluating practical preparation, which accounts for 40% of the overall grade, including skills (2.1-2.5), communication (3.1-3.3), autonomy, and responsibility (4.1-4.5). Semester work assessment: Oral responses, contributions, participation in discussions during lectures and seminars, quick quizzes, ongoing test assignments, colloquia: maximum 51 points (+ 25 points for the credit). Writing and presentation of (scientific) essays / oral and written assignments: 24 points (10 points for essay preparation, 5 points for presentation (defense) of the essay, 2 points for mini-presentation). Final assessment is a credit. Grade scale: Passed: 100-60 points; Failed: 59-0 points.
