Prerequisites and co-requisites
High level of Ukrainian language proficiency; successful completion of 1-2 semester courses (practical course of Ukrainian language: professional level, linguistic and stylistic analysis of literary text, morphology and syntax of Ukrainian language in functional aspect).
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to form students' professional understanding of translation, the nature and specifics of this interlingual activity; to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for translation activities in two directions: from native language into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into native language. The curriculum covers translation as an act of interlingual communication and its main types; lexical, grammatical and stylistic problems of translation and the system of translation transformations; stages of translation strategy, causes and types of translation errors; requirements for a translator. The course is also aimed at developing professional practical skills necessary for translating texts of various styles and genres from Ukrainian into the native language and vice versa.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study: lectures, practical classes, individual work. Teaching methods: problem-based teaching (explanation, discussion, analysis); independent work with scientific and reference literature, collective translation of the text, collective analysis of the quality of interpretation and translation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current tests, oral responses, participation in discussions, translation/interpretation, analysis of translation/interpretation results and editing, collection and analysis of information for translation, module tests, and an exam.
