Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To implement the modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of scientific research in a specific philological field. PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically the vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics of their solution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 11. To perform a scholarly analysis of linguistic, speech and literary material, interpret and structure it considering expedient methodological principles, formulate summarizations based on the individually processed data. PLO 15. To choose the optimal research approaches and methods of analysis for the specific linguistic and literary material. PLO 17. To plan, organize, perform and present the research and or innovative developments in the field of translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for the discipline: 1) knowledge of computational technologies at the level of active user, command of Portuguese at a level, not lower than B1; 2) knowledge of theoretical background: basic linguistic concepts, particularly, in the field of lexical semantics.
Course content
During lectures the students master the basic characteristics and principles of construction of translational and terminological dictionaries study the advanced possibilities of searching for them to solve the problems of translation, as well as ways of ordering dictionaries (terminological, general -porous); the researching component comprehends studying the fundamental qualitative differences between paper and electronic dictionaries, ways of implementing certain functionality of dictionaries in their macro- and microstructure. During practical classes, students also learn to make requests in electronic and other reference resources to establish equivalent relations between multilingual units of different levels and to compile a simple relational database in order to create an electronic dictionary on its basis.

Assessment methods: oral answers, compilation a dictionary part (terminological, lexical), test. Assessment Criteria: Oral answers (LO 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.2, 2.4, 3.1)-max. 15 points; compilation of a part of terminological glossary (LO 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1)-max. 30 points; compilation of part of the common lexical dictionary (LO 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.2, 4.1)-max. 30 points; test (LO 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1)-max. 25 points.
