Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have confident knowledge of the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the official (Ukrainian) and foreign languages. PLO 5. To find optimal ways of the effective interaction in a team of professionals and with the representatives of other professional groups on different levels. PLO 10. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before completing the translation practice, students must be able: - to translate (using dictionaries) in writing texts of the specified types from Persian into Ukrainian and vice versa at a speed of up to 1,800 printed characters in 1.5 hours; - to annotate and abstract written informational materials in Ukrainian and Persian; - to compose, edit and translate business letters from Persian to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to Persian; - to compile bilingual dictionaries of a certain field with a volume of at least 100 lexical items; - to type in Persian.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students’ practical abilities and skills of written and oral translation based on the acquired theoretical knowledge, in real communication conditions, awareness of the professional significance of this knowledge; to acquaint students with the peculiarities of work in real conditions of written and oral translation, to foster in them the desire to systematically renew and improve the acquired knowledge, creatively apply it in their practical activities. Translation practice is designed to develop in students the ability to independently make specific decisions and creatively implement them in the translation activity; it is conducted with the aim of acquainting students with the conditions and position on the labor market, provides for the formation of their ability to work in real production conditions, mastering modern methods, forms of organization and means of work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The preparatory stage: Instructional meeting at the ES Institute of Philology, acquaintance with the supervisors of the practice, studying regulatory documents, familiarizing the students with the purpose and tasks of the practice, the specifics of its completion, and the rules for filing reports after the practice has ended. Visiting by students together with the supervisor of the place of practice, acquaintance with employers, definition of the scope of tasks. Drawing up an individual plan of translation practice. The main stage: Performing an oral or written translation according to the individual plan; referencing and annotating texts; compiling a glossary. Preparation of a written translation in accordance with established standards. The final stage: Preparation of reporting materials on translation practice, presentation. Defence of the practice. Submission of reporting documentation to the supervisor of the practice for verification and evaluation.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final evaluation of the practice results (min. 60 / max. 100 points) takes place by summing up the points received by the students for the three stages of its completion: • the preparatory stage – min. 6 / max. 10 points; • the main stage – min. 42 / max. 70 points (including a practice diary (according to an individual plan) – 6/10 points, written translation of texts – 24/40 points, abstracting and annotating texts – 6/10 points, compiling a glossary – 6/10 points); • the final stage – min. 12 / max 20 points (including preparation of reporting materials – 6/10 points, presentation – 6/10 points).
