Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages.
PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics for their resolution in challenging and unpredictable conditions, which require the application of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 24.2 To apply principles of oral translation, note-taking, and oral translator’s rhetoric techniques in English.
PLO 25.2 To have command of simultaneous and conference translation techniques in English and one of the languages (German/ French/ Spanish/ Italian/Portuguese).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- basic training in the practice of translation of non-specialized texts (written and oral), knowledge of French (foreign) language at a level not lower than B2, excellent knowledge of native (Ukrainian) language, eloquence skills, broad general erudition; knowledge of theoretical foundations: basic translation competence;
- understanding of basic translation concepts and requirements for translation adequacy, equivalence, translation situation, basic translation strategies, names of the most common translation techniques, methods, and techniques;
- ability to perform consecutive translation of specialized and non-specialized texts.
Course content
The main areas of training in the discipline are: expanding background knowledge and the ability to acquire it in accordance with the translation situation; linguistic knowledge (lexical equivalents of terms, clichés, established expressions, proper names, phraseological units, world-famous allusions and other elements of intertextuality); development of skills and abilities necessary for successful consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of knowledge is based on the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, including the evaluation of theoretical training-learning outcomes (knowledge 1.1 - 1.3), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.3); (communication 3.); (autonomy and responsibility 4.), which is 60% of the total grade.
