Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages.
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field.
PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying.
PLO 17. To plan, organize, perform and present research and/or innovative developments in a specific linguistic field.
PLO 18. To present the results of one’s research to the academic community in academic publications or presentations at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know current issues of modern translation studies in terms of modern approaches to interpreting and translation, the possibility of their complementarity, connection with other linguistic and translation disciplines, and basics of communication theory.
To operate the general conceptual and categorical apparatus of the discipline, find ways to improve translation methods, choose the right strategy according to the specific linguistic situation, apply translation and linguistic tools in practice in academic speech.
To have basic skills in selecting, analysing, and interpreting linguistic facts and their correct translation.
Course content
To teach the interpreter to master the mechanisms of the language, quickly navigate in the conditions of professional activity without missing the primary purpose of communication, direct the understanding of the psychology of another person, and find an approach to each participant in the act of communication.
High communication skills characterize academic speech. Famous thinkers formed and honed the skill of dialogues, discussions, and heuristic conversations at university lectures and public speeches. The main principles they were guided by are: scientific depth of the material expressed, accuracy, the logic of substantiation, consideration of the addressee, the ability to establish contact with the audience, find the level of acceptability, interest, motivation, and achieve the reverse developing effect. The distinctive features of this speech are scientific terminology, reasoning, logical culture, communication of scientific information new to the audience, and accessibility.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities throughout the semester: oral answers, blitz surveys, written assignments (summary, abstract); preparing and defending a presentation, modular control (questions with open answers). Teaching methods are interactive, communication-oriented, and analytical.
Assessment methods and criteria
According to paragraph 7 of the work program, the material is assessed during practical classes. The discipline ends with a credit graded on the results of the student's work for the whole semester and does not provide an additional assessment. The maximum score for the semester is 100 points. Students with a minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "pass". Students without a minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "fail". Semester evaluation by forms of control: oral answers, blitz surveys - max. 30 points; written assignments (summary, abstract) - max. 30 points; modular control: max. 40 points.
