Learning outcomes
PLO 5. To find optimal ways for effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language and literature, to interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the chosen specialization). PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles and genres. PLO 22. To analyze, design, and give reasons for translation decisions, decisions on the choice of translation tools and methods of quality assurance in specialized translation. PLO 23. To be able to plan the process of specialized interpreting and translation in accordance to the stages of a translation project.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The curriculum is designed for first-year students of the educational level "Master", who have successfully mastered the bachelor's degree program and received the appropriate degree.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to form and to improve general and professional competencies required for interpreting and written translation of texts belonging to different fields and genres; to study the main types of translation equivalents based on work with a wide array of texts. The course aims to deepen translation skills, taking into account lexical, grammatical and genre-stylistic features inherent in different industries and fields. Practical training is provided by working with texts that 1) cover the main elements of international politics, socio-political and economic activities; 2) represent scientific, popular science and technical style; 3) belong to the field of art, literature, academia and documentaries; 4) allow to deepen knowledge of the state, political and legal system of Ukraine, Great Britain, the USA and the EU in the context of translation. Teaching and assessment are in English and Ukrainian.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching activities during the semester: • practical classes on two thematic blocks: "Part 3. Artistic, academic, and non-fiction texts translation techniques", "Part 4. Rendering of national specifics and realities of Great Britain, the USA, the EU and Ukraine in translation, English language varieties"; • tests during the semester - written vocabulary tests, interpreting and translation tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
Points for work during the semester (60) are obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material on all content topics (oral answers in practical classes; vocabulary tests to check lexical minimum mastery; practical tests to evaluate ability to perform written translation or interpreting). Final assessment is by exam in written and oral form. The maximum number of exam points is 40. The exam card consists of 3 tasks: 1. Translate a text fragment into Ukrainian (in writing, 15 points); 2. Perform consecutive interpretation of the proposed text. (orally, 15 points); 3. Checking the lexical minimum for the semester (orally, 10 points).
