Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully study the course, students must first master the following courses: "Chinese Language", "Introduction to Translation Studies", "Translation Practice", etc.; know: theoretical foundations of Chinese language grammar and translation studies; to have: practical skills of translating scientific-style Chinese texts, the ability to determine the necessary methods of translating units of different language levels, to comment on the material of scientific and technical texts using the main types of professional two-way translation, etc.
Course content
The goal of the discipline: development and improvement of students' language and translation competence in the field of scientific and technical translation in accordance with their specialty, to provide them with the opportunity to carry out professional translation activities in the relevant field.Abstract. The course "Translation of Scientific and Technical Documentation (Chinese Language)" is aimed at forming practical skills of oral and written translation in the scientific and technical field. The course includes 2 content modules, each of which is based on materials from different fields of scientific knowledge (chemistry, physics, optics, acoustics, electronics, etc.). Within the scope of the discipline, basic translation techniques and transformations are mastered in practice, specific samples of scientific and technical texts are worked out, basic vocabulary from scientific and technical texts is studied. The discipline ends with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork (oral answers and exercises on written translation), dictations, modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work. In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall assessment consists of points received for the work during the semester (maximum – 100 points, minimum – 60 points) and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored less than 60 points in total during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing unsupervised works, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper based on the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1–1.4; LR 2.1– 2.2; LR 3.1; LR 4.1–4.2. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
