Successful performance in this course requires that students possess essential knowledge in Education, Psychology, and Language Pedagogy for profession-oriented secondary school; be proficient users of Ukrainian for educational purposes as well as confident English users (В2+ level). The course prerequisites also emphasize pre-service or in-service teaching experience in secondary school and the ability to employ communication strategies of academic and pedagogic discourse while maintaining professional communication both in English and Ukrainian.

This course aims to enhance students’ knowledge of communication components of project-based learning, methods, and techniques of engaging learners in school projects as well as teaching English for project work; provide students with profound knowledge of approaches, principles, methods and forms of learning English, which are necessary for creating successful school projects. Practical sessions of the course make up professional language training targeted at fostering the skills of effective writing and speaking in an English classroom. The course is divided into 5 content modules. Module 1 explores project work and project-based learning; Module 2 considers various opportunities of international project work; Module 3 focuses on communication and cooperation with project partners; Module 4 gives insight into project development; Module 5 provides some tips on how to apply for mobility. The course ends with a pass/fail test.

The course is delivered in English through a mixture of lectures, practical sessions, independent learning, research, and project work. Major activities performed by the students include classroom assignments, discussions; module tests; individual/group projects. During the term a student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for these activities that are components of formative assessment.

With a 100-point assessment system used, a final grade for the course is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment which is delivered through oral performance in classroom, discussions - 24 max, and a min of 12 points; module tests - 40 max, and a min of 24 points; individual/group projects - 36 max, and a min of 24 points. The maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 100 points (100%) – semester control. Assessment on learning outcomes: LO 1.1-1.5; LO 2.1-2.4; LO 3.1-3.3; LO 4.1-4.3.
