Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this course, students should know information about modern Slavic states, their geographical location, history within the framework of the secondary school program; linguistic and literary terms; facts related to the history of the Slavic peoples. Be able to work with educational and scientific literature, plan and evaluate one's own work; use interactive and multimedia tools. Possess elementary skills of critical attitude to analyzed phenomena; interaction and cooperation in education.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint first-year students with the main Slavic issues. The discipline "Introduction to Slavic Philology" belongs to the list of compulsory disciplines and is taught in the 1st semester of the bachelor's degree - in accordance with the curriculum of the educational-professional program "Slovenian Language and Literature and English". The propaedeutic course aims to acquaint first-year students with the main Slavic issues. It characterizes the position of the Slavic peoples in the modern world. The history of Slavic statehood is considered. The issues of ethnogenesis of the Slavs, material and spiritual culture of the ancient Slavs are covered. Students get acquainted with the main stages of development of the Proto-Slavic language. Particular attention is paid to the existence of writing in the pre-Christian period, the activities of Constantine-Cyril and Methodius, the relationship between Glagolitic and Cyrillic.
