Learning outcomes
PTR 5. To collaborate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PTR 10. To know the norms of the Ukrainian literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities PTR 14. To use Ukrainian in verbal and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of theoretical and practical courses of the Ukrainian language taught during the previous years of study. 1. To know the main types of approach to text analysis and methods of translating a text from the native language into Ukrainian; the basics of editing a translated text; features of grammar, syntax and lexical composition of the Ukrainian language; the basics of abstracting texts. 2. Be able to analyse the text, choose the appropriate translation method; identify and correct grammatical and stylistic errors; use the acquired vocabulary in oral and written translation. 3. To have the skills to use bilingual and explanatory dictionaries of various types and reference books when translating.
Course content
The country studies translation practice consists of three stages, each of which lasts a week. At the beginning of the practice, each student must choose a topic for a paper from the list suggested by the supervisor (topics should not be repeated within the group) and prepare a paper-translation from the native language of texts on the country studies topic. Stage I involves: selection of texts in the native language on the chosen topic (20 pages); approval by the supervisor; translation of a part (at least 25%) of the texts from the native language into Ukrainian on the chosen topic. Stage II involves the final translation of the texts; preparation and writing of a translation essay. Stage III involves giving a lecture (presentation, excursion) based on the materials of the essay-translation; preparing an annotation of the essay-translation and writing a report on the practice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: independent study of methodological literature on the recommendation of the curator, consultations with the supervisor. Teaching methods: informative and explanatory method, interactive methods: regulatory, instructional. Independent work with textual materials and reference literature, online translators, collection and analysis of information for translation, analysis of mistakes made. Search, partial search, problem-solving methods. Study of scientific literature on translation, analysis of translation quality. Work with didactic material, various sources of information (printed, Internet, video). Creating presentations. Problem situation method (case method).
Assessment methods and criteria
Methods of assessment: writing essays, annotations; holding a lecture (presentations, excursions), selection of texts for translation, translation, analysis of the translated text, writing an abstract, annotations, conducting a presentation, report.
