Learning outcomes
PLO 8. Know and understand the system of the Ancient Greek, Latin and a foreign language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Ancient Greek and Latin languages, and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.
PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin.
PLO 20. Know Greek and Latin substratum of the modern academic terminology, possess the knowledge of the metalanguage of the academic description and use it in the situations of professional communication.
PLO 21. Possess the skills to translate texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successfully master the course "Latin language. 1 semester": to know the paradigm of independent parts of speech, peculiarities of word formation; have the skills to determine the grammatical meanings of forms, the ability to translate Latin texts in accordance with the tasks (educational goals) defined by the work program of the educational discipline "Latin language. 1 semester".
Course content
The goal is for students to acquire complex, conceptual knowledge about the grammatical structure and lexical composition of the Latin language. The course involves multi-faceted language teaching aimed at developing students' speaking, translation and hermeneutic skills and abilities.
Abstract of the academic discipline. The subject of study of the academic discipline in the second semester is the morphology and vocabulary of the Latin language of the classical period of its development, during which the canons of the normative language were laid down.

Lectures, practical classes; video materials and presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint); independent work (preparation of materials on a given topic, exercises and translation of texts)
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom and independent work. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to semester points is 24 points; the exam is conducted in the form of a written work, which consists of two theoretical questions and one practical one. The final number of points for the discipline is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final assessment. A detailed description of the forms, criteria and organization of assessment is given in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
