Learning outcomes
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication.
PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Linguistics.
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the Swedish language at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as basic skills in the linguistic analysis of texts.
Course content
The course involves the study of the specifics of the media text and its main types, in particular advertising and journalistic texts in a comparative aspect. The main tasks of the course include mastering the skills of critical thinking and reflective perception of media texts; stylistic analysis of the main types of media texts; analysis of various types of speech errors in oral and written media texts; editing of author's media texts. The course is one of the components of the theoretical basis of the set of knowledge and skills that prepare qualified specialists in the field of philology and translation. It provides students with the formation of intercultural and communicative competence. The course is part of the scientific research component of the educational program, which involves conducting practical classes in the form of scientific discussions, presentations, scientific and analytical reports, as well as conducting scientific research in the field of media linguistics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities: lectures, practical classes, independent work. Teaching methods: explanatory-illustrative method, method of problem-based learning (problem-based lecture), heuristic method, preparation and discussion of presentations based on the results of scientific research, educational discussion, analytical tasks, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: oral survey, report on the topic, presentation, participation in the discussion, test, analytical task. Final assessment - credit. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
