Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian and Swedish, English and third Germanic language, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, Swedish, English and third Germanic language. PLO 14. Use Swedish, English and third Germanic language in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students must have an intermediate level of English (according to the European level scale – B1). Possess lexical material and be able to apply grammatical rules for use in everyday life, know the basic clichés of business communication, read adapted literature in English, listen to simple films, podcasts, etc. Be able to conduct a conversation, the so-called small-talk. It is also expected to understand the basic linguistic concepts and categories learned during the study of the school curriculum.
Course content
During practical classes, students master receptive listening and reading skills, productive speaking and writing skills. Students increase their vocabulary (mastering not only a large number of lexical items, but also phrasal verbs, idioms, fixed expressions), master the key phonetic features of the English language, master the use of grammatical forms and constructions of higher levels of language proficiency. Students get knowledge of linguistic and regional studies. The thematic spectrum studied in the first year includes a list of topics that will allow the student to freely communicate with English-speaking people on everyday and socially important topics. Students have the opportunity to independently choose a book for home reading (upon agreement with the teacher).
