Learning outcomes
Understand the features of the network approach in the study of political communications. Understand the possibilities of network analysis in terms of forecasting efficiency. Know the typology of networks and the scope of their effective operation. Be able to choose the method of visualization of the network scheme in accordance with the purpose of the study, to use software to build network diagrams. Be able to highlight key characteristics of the network, the main actors in communication, to determine the forecast characteristics and develop recommendations based on the analysis of schemes. Be able to argue orally and / or in writing the choice of visualization method / algorithm, to formulate forecasts and recommendations based on the analysis of schemes. Independently perform analysis and visualization of network schemes on professional topics

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- Knowledge of the basics of communication theory, public relations, psychology and ethics of communication, theoretical and methodological foundations of communication management in international relations, graph theory - Ability to visualize network data, choose the method and form of presentation of visual information, formulate generalizations and recommendations - Basic skills of work on a PC and the use of software, work with sources and channels of information
Course content
1. The essence of the network approach. Typology of networks. Areas of effective functioning. 2. Features of the network approach in the study of political communications. 3. Examples of network graphs. Case studies. 4. Ways to visualize the network. Structuring subnets. 5. Basic metrics of network analysis. Attributes of the main actors. 6. Formation of forecasts and recommendations.

Lecture, practical classes, case studies, educational discussions, individual and group practical tasks
Assessment methods and criteria
1. Activity and participation in the discussion and in group practical work, the quality of argumentation in the discussion; the quality of the individual task – up to 60 points. 2. Tasks for individual work (case study presentation) – up to 20 points. 3.Module control work (online testing) – up to 20 points.
