Learning outcomes
Know the basics of systems theory; the key principles, rules, methods, and procedures of systemic analysis used in International Relations systems research; the theoretical and methodological foundations of the systemic approach to political decision making; the classification of systems by various features and rules of systems functioning; approaches to the description of systems features and the evaluation of its parameters; the methodology of Quality Function Deployment. Be able to organise properly collection of information about the system and its internal and external environments; define the purposes of the research correctly using the SMART approach; apply systemic methods to fulfilling the given tasks; detect cause and effect relationships between events in a system; carry out the PEST and SWOT analysis correctly in terms of methodology; create a model of a given system and find an optimal solution of the problem with the model.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basics of philosophy, Ukrainian history, and world history. Be able to collect and systematise information from open sources without any help. Be able to think verbally, logically, and quantitatively.
Course content
Module 1 Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Systemic Approach 1. Systemic thinking and systemic approach 2. The interdisciplinary nature of systemic approach 3. System and the systemic nature. 4. The systemic research design. Module 2 Applied Tasks of Strategic Planning 5. Methods of acquiring knowledge of a system. 6. Systemic methods of strategic analysis. 7. QFD. The method of systematic and structural transformation. 8. Organising information for systems management.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Work at seminars: up to 20 points. 2. An individual written assignment: up to 20 points. 3. Two module tests: up to 10 points each. 4. Final evaluation (an exam in the form of a comprehensive test): up to 40 points.
