Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Arabic language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Arabic language, describe the sociolinguistic situation in the countries of the Arab East. PLO 12. To analyze Arabic linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of Arabic texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “The Arabic language: basic level”, “The Arabic language: intermediate level”; knowledge of linguistic terminology and basic laws of language development (from the course "Basics of Linguistics").
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with a theoretical view to grammatical phenomena already known to them from the practical course of the Arabic language; to characterize the morphology and syntax of the Arabic language in the light of universal linguistic theory; to highlighti the specifics of the classification of Arabic grammatical phenomena in the light of the Arabic linguistic tradition. The discipline is the second part of the complex discipline "Theory and history of the Arabic language" and has a theoretical orientation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Self-study of students involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, tasks of identifying and analyzing grammatical phenomena of the Persian language.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, reports and presentations / precis – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) to answer two theoretical questions; 2) to complete a practical task. Students, who totally scored less than 36 points during the semester, may not participate in the exam.
