PLO 2. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before taking this course, students should know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; have basic knowledge of the humanities and and social sciences. Be able to collect and interpret information about social phenomena, processes and events; identify modern features of coexistence of human communities in the context of globalization; plan and evaluate their own work; apply interactive and multimedia tools learning objectives. Possess basic skills of working with humanitarian texts; critical attitude to political, economic, socio-cultural processes, events and phenomena.
Course content
The discipline "Philosophy" is included in the list of compulsory disciplines of higher education institutions and is taught in the VI semester of the bachelor's degree. The discipline introduces students to philosophical thought in its historical development and current state, with the fundamental way of of comprehending the foundations of human existence, cognition and activity, mediated by by the peculiarities of their respective socio-cultural epoch. Provides a holistic view of the specifics of of philosophical knowledge, its issues, concepts and categories, and structure. Shows the methodological role of philosophical knowledge in understanding ontological, epistemological, axiological and social problems of life. Introduces the main patterns of development of nature and society and the place of man in the world.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study consist of lectures, seminars, consultations and students’ self-study. Teaching methods include answers at the seminars, analytical task on the topic given by the lecturer, report, extra answer / participation in the discussion, self-study work (essay, analytical task, presentation of the project), test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final score for the course constitutes a total of points for all forms of control and does not need any additional forms of evaluation. Forms of the current control include the sum of marks for answers at the seminars (min 18 / max 30 points), analytical task on the topic given by the lecturer (min 9 / max 15 points), report (min 9 / max 15 points), extra answer / participation in the discussion (min 6 / max 10 points), self-study work (essay, analytical task, presentation of the project) (min 6 / max 10 points), test papers (min 12 / max 20 points). Students who did not manage to score 60 points during the term have to work for the classes and topics they missed.
