PRN 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Ukrainian language, and Ukrainian literature, and apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 9. Characterize the vernacular and social varieties of the Ukrainian language and describe the sociolinguistic situation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must successfully master the basics of literary theory according to school programs on Ukrainian and foreign literature to know the principles of literary analysis of artistic works in the unity of content and form, peculiarities of artistic trends, main epic, lyrical, dramatic, lyric-epic genres; specifics of the literary process. The student must be able to formulate his thoughts and judgments about artistic works and the literary process verbally and in writing and characterize artistic images.
Course content
This mandatory course involves the study of three interrelated thematic blocks: literature as a form of art, a work of art and the principles of its analysis, and the literary process in its theoretical understanding, considering the latest achievements of scientific thought. Thus, the student will learn systematically about the unique nature of verbal art, its functions, poetics, types and genres, directions, and currents.

Lectures, seminars, independent work. Answer at the seminar class, control work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The answer in the seminar session - max. 5/min. 2, control work - max. 35/min. 14. Final assessment: credit. Credit is issued based on the results of the work throughout the semester. Compliance scale: "Enrolled" - 600-100, "Not counted" - 0-59.
