Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of scientific-theoretical and practical material of academic disciplines taught to students of educational level "Bachelor". 2. Knowledge of theoretical foundations of biochemistry, cytology, microbiology, physiology. 3. Be able to work with information databases, independently develop scientific and methodological literature. 4. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in the biological laboratory, basic skills in working with a light field microscope.
Course content
The discipline is selective and is devoted to the study of the development of the microbial population as a whole system. Communication relations between microorganisms of one species and interspecies are considered. Much attention is paid to the kinetic characteristics, growth patterns of microbial populations: periodic, continuous cultivation and formation of biofilms by microorganisms. An important place is given to the influence of inhibitors on the development of the population of microorganisms, the phenomena of self-stabilization in periodic and flowing systems, the role of microbial populations in the treatment of wastewater and natural waters and soils. The discipline is designed to generalize the idea of how to cultivate microorganisms in laboratory and industrial conditions.
