Learning outcomes
Ability to solve typical and complex specialized tasks and practical problems in professional activities in the field of health care related to the use of personal computers and work with general purpose programs, and involves research and / or innovation and is characterized by complexity and uncertainty requirements. Demonstrate mastery of basic terms in the field of medical informatics. Ability to apply knowledge in practical situations. Ability to choose a communication strategy; ability to work in a team; interpersonal skills. Information and communication technology skills in health care. Be able to determine the source and / or location of the required information depending on its type; receive the necessary information from a specific source; process and analyze the received information. Use methods of processing medical information to solve typical problems of professional activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basics of computer literacy, including the organization of the Windows operating system and computer security, methods of finding, storing, archiving and protecting information. 2. Be able to confidently work as a personal computer user, use standard and utility programs of the Windows operating system, be able to work with office software Microsoft Office and / or LibreOffice, work with scientific and methodological literature, perform practical work. 3. Have basic skills in using e-mail, navigating the Internet, finding the necessary information using Internet browsers, analyzing medical images, graphical presentation of information, use of multimedia technologies.
Course content
Medical informatics is an integrated, interdisciplinary science that emerged at the intersection of computer science, computer technology and health care. This discipline covers the resources, databases, algorithms and techniques needed to optimize the acquisition, storage, transmission and use of health and biomedical information. The field of application of medical informatics is multidisciplinary and covers such areas as electronic medical records of patients, decision support systems, eHealth, telemedicine, medical ethics, the use of computer technology in public health. This includes international health systems, global information resources and health systems.
