Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. The student must be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc. disciplines, work with scientific and methodological literature.
2. Know:
- Characteristics of proteins and nucleic acids;
- Characteristics of different cell types (eukaryotes, prokaryotes, plants, bacteria);
- Have a concept of immunity;
- Principles of epidemiology;
- Biochemical and biophysical research methods.
Course content
During the study of the discipline attention is paid to modern classification, genetics and molecular biology of viruses with the assessment of individual viral infections, their pathogenesis, epidemiology and treatment. The issues of methods of diagnosis and prevention of human viral diseases, planning and implementation of preventive and anti-epidemic measures for viral diseases are considered. Attention is paid to aspects of new and emerging-reimerging infections. "Virology with virological diagnostics" is the foundation for further acquisition by students of knowledge and skills in such disciplines as laboratory diagnosis of viral infections, infectious diseases, epidemiology, etc.).
