Learning outcomes
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Italian and English. PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from Italian, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except highly specialized ones. PLO 22. Use the knowledge of history and culture of Ukraine and Italian- and English-speaking countries for ensuring successful communication and adequate translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the Italian language at a level not lower than B1+/B2. 2. To have basic skills of written and oral translation of non-specialized texts from Italian to Ukrainian. 3. To have elementary skills of translation analysis of the text.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to develop basic skills and translation skills from Ukrainian to Italian (the first foreign language). It is a specialized discipline, included in the blocks of free choice "Translation in intercultural communication" and "Written and oral branch translation". Contributes to the acquisition of basic knowledge and translation skills in the A-B direction. This implies a generally common approach to teaching the discipline within both blocks, the thematic and branch nature of the texts offered for translation are distinctive. Teaches how to solve grammatical and lexical-grammatical problems relevant to a given language pair in translation, develops skills in finding lexical equivalents and overcoming general genre-stylistic problems. The languages of study, teaching and assessment are Italian and Ukrainian.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of examination, described in clause 7.1 of the work program of the academic discipline. Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points during the semester are not allowed to take the exam. In order to be admitted to the exam, such students must complete at least 50% of the written assignments for the semester, as well as write test papers that did not receive the minimum number of points. The exam consists of 3 tasks: 1) written translation of the text from Ukrainian to Italian (min. 12 - max. 20 points); 2) written translation comment on difficulties (min. 6 - max. 10 points); 3) oral abstract of a Ukrainian newspaper-informational text in Italian (min. 6 - max. 10 points).
