Learning outcomes
The results of the discipline are an increase in the general level of mastery of a foreign language; the formation of skills in the application of special terminology in the field of professional interests, as well as the development of the skills of foreign language situation-oriented communication in all types of speech activity, which involves knowledge of phonological, lexical and grammatical regularities of the language as a system; mastery of literary and scientific norms of a foreign language; the ability to choose and use appropriate language means for producing texts (lectures, reports, reports, etc.) of various types; activation, expansion, and differentiation of vocabulary (generally humanitarian and general scientific vocabulary). The end result of studying the discipline is the acquisition of universal skills and abilities of professional foreign language activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the program in foreign languages for general educational institutions of Ukraine and a sufficient level of formation of foreign language communicative competence in accordance with the State Standard of Basic and Comprehensive Secondary Education and All-European Recommendations on Language Education.
Course content
The educational discipline "Comprehensive discipline English" for students of the OKR "Bachelor" of the first-fourth years of study at the B1-B2 level of the field of knowledge 03 humanities, specialty 032 history and archeology is taught in I-VII semesters in the amount of 510 hours. (17 ECTS credits) in particular: practical - 256 hours, independent work - 254 hours. "Comprehensive subject English" consists of three parts. Part 1 English language (general course) is taught in I-II semesters in the amount of 240 hours (8 credits), in particular: practical - 120 hours, independent work - 12 hours; ends in the 1st semester with an intermediate control and in the 2nd semester with an exam. Part 2 Professional English is taught in III-VII semesters in the amount of 210 hours (7 credits), in particular: practical - 106 hours, independent work - 104 hours; it ends in the III, V semesters with an intermediate control, in the VI semester - a test, and in the IV, VII semesters - an exam. Part 3 English for academic purposes is taught in V-VI semesters in the amount of 60 hours (2 credits), in particular: practical - 30 hours, independent work - 30 hours; ends in the 5th semester with an intermediate control and in the 6th semester with an exam

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
