Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Spanish and English languages and literatures, to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. Analyse and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specific features and place in literary process. PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering or choosing a discipline: 1. Successful completion of the course "History of Foreign Literature (Antiquity - 17th century). 1. Possession of basic knowledge of the history of world and Ukrainian literature. 2. Possession of basic knowledge of literary theory. 3. Understanding of the general patterns of development of literature and culture. 4. Possession of basic skills in analysing a literary text. 5. Possession of skills of independent study of scientific and methodological literature. 6. Possession of basic skills of working with scientific literature.
Course content
The discipline "History of Foreign Literature (18th century - Romanticism/Realism)" is part of the educational and professional programme for the training of specialists in the educational qualification level "Bachelor", is part of the cycle of compulsory disciplines in the educational programme "Translation from Italian and English" and is part 2 of the multi-semester discipline "History of Foreign Literature". It consists of lectures and seminars, and also involves independent work of students. The form of the final semester control is an exam. The works chosen for study are representative, they are considered in the broad context of the development of world literature and culture and highlight the national and historical specificity of various Western literatures of the 18th and 19th centuries, with special attention paid to the literature of Italy. The teaching methodology is theoretical history of literature with elements of political criticism.

Assessment methods and criteria
Students with a total score lower than the critical-calculated minimum of 36 points are not allowed to take the exam. For students who do not reach the minimum grade level during the semester, a final semester test or essays on course topics are assessed at the end of the semester. The maximum mark for additional forms of assessment may not exceed 40% of the maximum total marks for the semester - 24 points. The exam is conducted in the form of written work, the exam paper consists of three tasks: two theoretical and historical and literary, with open answers, which are assessed with a maximum of 15 points, and a practical task (analysis of a work), which is assessed with a maximum of 10 points.
