Learning outcomes
PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from French, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except for highly specialised ones. PLO 22. Apply knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguistic and country studies of French- and English-speaking countries to organise successful communication and adequate translation. PLO 23. Identify and analyse the specificity of the communicative situation of translation and its impact on a translator's decisions. PLO 24. Provide consecutive interpreting from French and English and possess the basics of interpreting note-taking. PLO 25. Demonstrate skills in the use of innovative technologies and various translation resources and translation automation tools. PLO 26. Provide stylistic revision of Ukrainian-language texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the basics of French morphology, syntax, vocabulary, phonetics and orthography. Be able to communicate correctly in a foreign language, observing phonetic, lexical-syntactic, grammatical norms; make a linguistic stylistic analysis of texts taking into account the information obtained in practical and theoretical courses; discuss and analyze works of classical French literature; abstract special and artistic texts in a foreign language. Possess elementary skills of critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena, use of foreign language specialized informative sources, skills of working with historical and cultural texts and their abstracting.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to start training French translation specialists based on the formation of skills and abilities necessary for a future translator; start teaching the basics of translation practice, both written and oral, based on the terminological apparatus introduced in the "Introduction to Translation Studies" course. Abstract of the academic discipline. The educational discipline "Practice of translation and interpretation" is a component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the educational and qualification level "bachelor". This discipline is part of the normative part of the cycle of disciplines of professional and practical training. The educational discipline continues the practical and theoretical mastery of the French language, which was started in the first year, and begins the study of translation, its elementary foundations and features, the development of skills related to the field of future professional activity. Classes are held in the form of practical classes. The discipline ends with a credit in each semester.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: credit. The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "enrolled". Evaluation criteria: (RN 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.2, 4.1): 1. Answers in practical classes - 5 points, 2. Execution of translations - 5 p., 3. Performing exercises, dictation - 5 points, 4. Blitz survey - 5 points, 5. Writing tests - 5-10 points, 6. Modular control work - 20-25 p. Evaluation of all types of work is carried out in points, in accordance with clause 7.1 of the work program of the discipline.
