Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 6. Use information and communication technologies to solve complex specialized tasks and issues of professional activity. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Portuguese and English. PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and translation analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 26. Carry out stylistic editing of texts in Ukrainian.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of courses: Introduction to Linguistics, Introduction to Translation Studies, Modern Ukrainian for Translators, Ukrainian and Foreign Culture, Comparative Lexicology of the First Foreign and Ukrainian Languages. 2. Proficiency in phonetic, morphemic, word-formation grammatical and syntactic analysis; basics of component analysis; skills of collecting, accumulating, processing and retrieving information.
Course content
This discipline is designed to provide training for philologists and specialists in the translation of foreign language texts into Ukrainian, who are able to translate written and spoken texts and recognize the main linguistic trends at a professional level, providing recommendations on the peculiarities of translating typical and specific language structures, using grammatically correct and stylistically justified units to ensure high-quality translation. In-depth knowledge of orthoepic, lexical, grammatical and syntactic language features will allow graduates of translation specialties to provide high-quality translation of texts at any language level. The objective of the discipline is to develop students' skills and abilities to translate texts correctly into Ukrainian, to improve the appropriate levels of written and oral culture that they need to master the future profession of a translator. It is part of the elective block "Translation in Intercultural Communication".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Verbal teaching methods: narration, explanation, conversation, class discussion. Visual teaching methods: illustration and demonstration. Practical teaching methods: exercise. According to the logic of the presentation of the educational material, the following teaching methods are provided: inductive, deductive, and traductive. During the practical classes and control editing of the text, the use of such interactive teaching methods as unfinished ideas, brainstorming, the method of defending a given position, changing a position, comparing alternative positions, and discussion is envisaged.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1. of the Program of the discipline. A grade is assigned based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures for successful students. For students who have scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester, in order to receive a passing grade, it is necessary to pass the material (no later than two weeks before the end of the course) on the topics for which there is a debt in the form of writing independent works and essays, or, if necessary, write a final test.
