Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the course, students should know the types of field documentation when conducting archaeological research; the main forms of keeping a field description of the process of archaeological excavations, explorations (field diary); basic forms of keeping a field and inventory list of finds; rules for drawing up field plans for excavations and archaeological sites; planigraphic and stratigraphic methods of field recording; methods of drawing up area plans; methods of mapping archaeological sites, rules for the graphic transfer of archaeological objects. Be able to keep a field diary and a field list of finds during archaeological research, describe and classify the main categories of archaeological finds; to compile an inventory description of archaeological objects discovered during archaeological research; keep a plan of excavations and archaeological sites; use planigraphic and stratigraphic methods of recording archaeological finds.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the archaeological periodization and the main archaeological cultures of Eastern Europe.
2. To be able to determine the characteristic features of archaeological cultures.
3. Possess elementary skills of archaeological typology and classification.
4. To have the methodology of field research of archaeological monuments
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СМ1) includes topics 1-10, content module 2 (СМ2) includes topics 11-20.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
