Learning outcomes
Development of students' practical abilities regarding the ability to comprehensively analyze socio-political, economic and cultural processes in the states of Western Europe in the Middle Ages and early modern times in the context of the world historical process; teach to distinguish and compare the common and distinctive features of the development of Western European countries in the 5th - the first half of the 17th century; formation of skills for working with modern information resources for the purpose of effective search and verification of historical sources and scientific literature on the educational discipline.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the most important facts, events and processes of the history of the European peoples of the era of antiquity. To be able to determine the peculiarities of development and characteristic features characteristic of the social system, state system, economic and economic sphere, cultural and religious-ideological development of medieval and early modern Western Europe; to systematically analyze these features in comparison with the countries of the East. Possess the skills of finding and criticizing sources, working with information resources and historical maps, establishing cause-and-effect relationships in the processing of sources and scientific literature.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students and ends with a rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (сM1) includes topics 1-8, content module 2 (СM2) includes topics 9-16.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
