Learning outcomes
1.1 know the main types of museums, the history and cultural significance of the world's largest museums
1.2 know the stages of development of museum activity as a cultural, educational and scientific work
1.3 to know the stages of formation and development of museum science, the modern periodization of the history of world museums
1.4 to know the stages of evolution of the museum as a cultural form, ideas about the functions of the museum in different eras
2.1 be able to select and critically analyze scientific information related to museums and museum-type institutions
2.2 to be able to use the best experience of world museums lecture, independent
3.1 to be able to collect complete and reliable information about the functioning of museums in the world, to identify the peculiarities of national and regional museum practices

Prerequisites and co-requisites
to know the basic concepts and terms of the museum business, areas of activity and organizational structure of museum institutions, the role of museum institutions in society, the largest museums in the world, trends in the development of the museum industry in Ukraine and the world:
to be able to apply the main terms and categories of the museum business, to collect, systematize and present information about the experience of the functioning of modern museum institutions, to identify the main problems of the functioning of museum institutions;
to have basic skills of working with scientific literature and source criticism, using foreign-language specialist sources, establishing cause-and-effect relationships.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (ЗМ1) includes topics 1–4, content module 2 (ЗМ2) includes topics 5–8.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
