Learning outcomes
PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of folklore studies, linguistics and literary studies, to be able to apply them in professional activities. Identify the main world mythologemes in author's and folklore works and analyze them. PLO 25.2. To apply in practice the knowledge of typical for world epic primary images, motifs, formulas, architectonics of texts of different genres and subgenres; to identify in the textual space of Ukrainian folk epic allusions of world cultural heritage (for the selective block "Mythology and folklore of the peoples of the world").

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the course, students should have basic knowledge of a humanitarian nature: know the laws of myth construction and mythological consciousness; main categories of myths; worldviews of the peoples of the world; the specifics of folk creativity as a system, its structure, history of development and history of research.
Be able to study and generalize scientific sources, folklore materials; use methods of evaluating ethnocultural information; to use the acquired knowledge in the field of mythology in research work, to solve practical tasks, to draw conclusions.
To have the skills to analyze the existence of a myth in the human mind, the laws of the use of a myth in various types of cultural practices; skills of preparation, organization and conduct of folkloristic research corresponding to the first (bachelor) level.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide a theoretical synthesis of the concepts of "myth" and "mythology", the relationship between myth and sociocultural reality; outline the early and latest approaches to the study of myth and mythology developed within the framework of various autonomous sciences.
Abstract. The curriculum of the discipline includes the main theoretical issues of the study of myth and mythology in synchronic and diachronic plane, problematic fields of folkloristic research and the field of practical implementation of research of mythological complexes in folklore. Its subject is the diachronic specificity of the myth and its subsequent historical transformations in the context of scientific discourse. The main tasks of the discipline: the development of skills and the formation of skills that allow the future specialist-folklorist to identify in the text space of Ukrainian folklore allusions to world cultural heritage, taking into account the broad mythological context.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 2 content parts. The first part of the course is "Development of mythology as a scientific discipline." The second part of the course is "Dialectics and functions of myth. Myth and culture". Forms of education: lectures, seminars, scientific seminar, independent work. Throughout the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work (oral answer, addition, presentation of independent work at a scientific seminar, blitz survey, participation in discussions at lectures and seminar classes, intermediate control test, exam). A scientific seminar is held no later than the last lecture week, at which students present an independently prepared scientific project on one of the current problems of mytho-criticism.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 60% of the overall assessment .
Assessment of semester work: oral answer, additions, participation in discussions at lectures and seminars, blitz survey, intermediate control test: 25/45 points. Scientific seminar presentation of a scientific report: 11/15 P. The overall grade for the semester consists of the points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, blitz surveys, intermediate control tests, presentation of a scientific report) and for independent work (preparation reports).
