Learning outcomes
PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 24. Identify the main world mythologemes in author's and folklore works and carry out their analysis.
PLO 25.2. Apply in practice the knowledge of the prototypes, motifs, formulas, and architecture of texts of various genres and subgenres typical of the world epic; to reveal in the textual space of the Ukrainian folk epic allusions to world cultural heritage

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course: "Mythology", "World Epic".
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of world mythology.
Possession of the methodology of scientific research, search and processing of educational and scientific information; use of professional informative sources on mythology; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena.
Ability to work with various sources of educational and scientific information, process it, make generalizations and conclusions; to collect and analyze information regarding the understanding of the essence of the mythological cultures of the peoples of the world.
Course content
Purpose of discipline – to form a system of knowledge about the most ancient culture of myth-making in the students of education.
Annotation. The educational discipline "Myths of the Ancient World" belongs to the list of electives, taught in the fifth semester of the bachelor's degree - in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and professional program "Folklore, Ukrainian language and literature and foreign language". The structure of the course provides for consideration of the theoretical foundations of the study of mythological systems of the Ancient World. Mastering the volume of issues considered in the course gives students the opportunity to form an idea of the formation, existence and development of the mythological consciousness of the era of the most ancient civilizations.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out according to the types of works and the form of the counter. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive - "not enrolled". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent papers, essays, or, if necessary, write a control paper.
