            PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of the Spanish and English languages and literatures, to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyse language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            To successfully master the "History of the Italian Language" course, students must successfully master such subjects as: "Practical Course of the Italian Language", "History of Foreign Literature", etc. The set of these academic courses allows you to know all aspects of the Italian language (phonetics, orthography, morphology, vocabulary, syntax), the necessary terms and concepts of linguistics, principles of analysis of language material, peculiarities of semantics, the structure and functioning of units of all levels of the Italian language, and to be able to apply this linguistic toolkit in practice, subordinate the given skills to the ability to translate texts from different periods of the formation of the Italian language; to have basic skills of translation, analysis and interpretation of linguistic facts.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The purpose of the discipline is to briefly highlight the genesis of the Romance languages and their classification, to consider the history of the formation of the Italian language in the system of Romance languages (external and internal history), to outline the main stages of the evolution of the Italian language, to make a diachronic section of the Italian language, starting from the first written records and ending the period of stabilization of language forms. Abstract of the academic discipline: The course examines the development of the Italian language on the historical axis. Mastering this discipline allows you to understand the relationship between the internal structure of the language and the external conditions of its existence, the connection between the development of the language and the history of the literature of this nation and its culture as a whole.

            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Semester assessment: exam. The distribution of points is as follows: 60 points - during the semester and 40 points (20%) - exam. Assessment criteria: oral answers, additions, participation in seminar discussions, blitz surveys: PH 2.1-2.3, 3.1, 4 - max. 20 points; translations of original texts of Spanish writers created in different historical periods (12th - 18th centuries): max. 10 points; writing a modular semester paper: max. 20 points; writing an essay on the course topic and its defense/presentation: max. 10 points; . the exam consists of three tasks: two theoretical questions and a translation of an excerpt from the original text of the XII - XVIII centuries; all types of work are evaluated in points, in accordance with the paragraph 7.1 of the Program of the discipline.
