At the lexical level, the skills and ability to select appropriate lexical units for oral and written speech, vocabulary, the ability to use linguistic terminology and terms of related fields of knowledge are assessed. At the syntactic level, the ability to correctly form communicative units - sentences of both parataxic and hypotaxic types, with compliance with the rules of agreement of tenses and temporal determinants, modality, cohesion, discursive markers - is evaluated. The pragmatic aspect allows one to assess the effectiveness of communication, the communicative impact and effect of both individual statements and the response as a whole. At the text level, the ability to correctly form oral and written both primary and secondary texts with respect for textual integrity, coherence, coherence and cohesion is assessed. The discursive aspect makes it possible to evaluate the use of a second Western European language depending on the sphere of its use, the type of discourse, etc.

Assessment methods and criteria
The first stage involves a theoretical question from the course on the theory of the second Western European language, which covers the most famous and promising areas of research. The second stage is a pragmatic-communicative analysis of the text (up to 2,000 characters) and a written translation of its fragment (500 characters). The interpretation of the passage includes a brief summary of its content and a complex linguistic analysis, during which the student must determine the role and place of stylistic devices (phonetic, grammatical, lexical, word-forming) in the construction of the semantic perspective of the text, show his ability to analyze the text as a whole. The third stage involves an oral interview on the proposed topic. Detailed criteria are presented in the WP.
