Learning outcomes
PR01. Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the study of natural and socio-territorial systems at different levels of spatial organization.
PR06. Apply modern models and information technologies for research and development in the field of geography, nature management, urban and regional development.
PR08. Conduct research on natural and socio-geographic manifestations of the development of geosystems in complex and unpredictable conditions, forecast their development, analyze alternatives, assess risks and likely consequences.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, theories and concepts of spatial development of society.
2. Possession of elementary skills of analysis of spatial development, its strategizing.
Course content
It is proposed to reveal the peculiarities of the structure and development of the Capital Region, strategizing and planning the development of its territory, socio-geographical foundations; concepts, methodology of regional development management, territory development analysis, territorial organization of society. The factors and resource base of the development of the Capital Region, the differences in human potential, the structure of the economic complex, the humanitarian sphere, the development of residential buildings, the eco-network, the territorial organization of tourism and recreation in the region are disclosed. The model of the formation of market territorial forms of placement of productive forces in the industrial-agrarian region with an urban agglomeration - the capital of the country - is revealed; socio-geographical approaches to strategizing and planning the territory of Stolichny region at different hierarchical levels.

Lecture, seminar class, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. To determine the level of achievement of the learning outcomes provided for in points 2 and 3, students present and defend completed seminar tasks. The final assessment is carried out in the form of an exam. The exam grade cannot be less than 24 points to receive an overall positive grade for the course.
