Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who during the second, third and fourth semesters studied linguistic disciplines and successfully mastered the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, vocabulary, phraseology, phonetics, grammar of the Ukrainian language and its lexical, orthographic, orthographic and punctuation norms. The student must have a sufficient level of training, know: basic linguistic terms; principles of language material analysis; peculiarities of semantics and functioning of units of all levels; spelling norms of the Ukrainian language; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice; to possess elementary skills of analysis and explanation of speech and speech phenomena; to have practice working with reference sources and communicating on linguistic topics.
Course content
The goal is to form students' systematized knowledge about the text as an object of linguistic analysis, about approaches to text interpretation, text categories, functional and stylistic differentiation of texts; to develop the skills of linguistic analysis of the text and its components; develop the ability to interpret compositional and linguistic features of texts that differ in style and genre. To achieve this goal, it is planned to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of text linguistics; highlight traditional and new approaches in studying the text; outline the place of the text in the system of language units; characterize types of texts; consider the main features (categories) of the text. A lot of attention is paid to tasks that increase students' text-creative and cultural-linguistic competence, develop their skill in performing linguistic text analysis.
The final assessment is a comprehensive exam.

final text analysis: 15 points
final evaluation in the form of an exam:
theoretical question with an open answer
