Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who, during the first semester, studied linguistic disciplines and successfully mastered the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, vocabulary, phraseology, phonetics of the Ukrainian language and its lexical and orthographic norms. The student must have the appropriate level of training, know: basic linguistic terms; principles of linguistic analysis; lexical and orthographic norms of the Ukrainian language; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice;
to possess elementary skills of analysis and explanation of speech and speech phenomena; be able to work with reference sources and communicate on linguistic topics.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form students' systematized knowledge of the morphology and orthographic norms of the Ukrainian language; to increase the level of oral and written literacy; consolidate the skills of working with reference literature on spelling and word usage. Tasks of the discipline: to characterize the theoretical issues of morphology; to consider the orthographic norms of the modern Ukrainian language in the projection on morphemes, word-forming features of the word, the distribution of words by parts of speech. It is planned to study the material in two parts.
Part 1: basic concepts of morphology; morphemic, word-forming features of words in the perspective of spelling norms; part-language features, spelling of nouns, adjectives.
Part 2: part-language signs, spelling of participles, numerals, verbs, adverbs, official parts of speech, exclamations, onomatopoeic words.
Final evaluation: credit (02 semester); comprehensive exam (03 semester).
