Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the histogenesis and submicroscopic structure of the elements of the glandular epithelium, anatomy, basics of biochemistry and physiology of endocrine organs. 2. Be able to use microscopic instruments to distinguish between different types of glandular cells of the endocrine system at the cyto- and histological level. 3. To have basic skills of making histological preparation of endocrine organs and the ability to work with a light microscope.
Course content
Discipline is the basis for obtaining a holistic view of the structural and functional organization of the neuroendocrine system and the principle of regulation peripheral endocrine glands. The learning process compares the main stages of the evolution of the neurosecretory system in invertebrates and vertebrates. Cytoarchitectonics of mammalian and human hypothalamus with characteristics of neurosecretory nuclei, hypothalamic tracts, medial elevation and pituitary gland, features of the structure of the portal circulatory system between the hypothalamus and pituitary gland are analyzed in detail. The histostructure of endocrine glands and the reasons of development of the most widespread pathologies, features of morpho- and pathogenesis of endocrine glands and their consequences for the hormonal status of the organism. Pierce's concept of the APUD system on the example of the characteristics of gastrointestinal endocrinocytes is considered.
