Learning outcomes
PLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from Spanish, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except highly specialized ones. PLO 27.1 Have language proficiency in modern variants and registers of the Spanish and English languages. PLO 28.1 Demonstrate the ability to implement communicative interlingual mediation on the basis of the knowledge of linguistic and cultural specifics. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Second Foreign Language and Translation", "Stylistics of Translated Text (Ukrainian)", "Introduction to Translation Studies". 2. Knowledge of the basic theoretical concepts of translation studies, translation transformations, and basic skills in oral and written translation.
Course content
It is a part of the elective block "Translation in Intercultural Communication" and ensures the development of stable language skills and abilities necessary for conscious professional proficiency in English language and culture. The course involves teaching future translators foreign language competence with the natural use of sign and semantic materials: forms of establishing, maintaining and developing interpersonal language relations and their adequate translation that are common in a given society; mastery of lexical items of the linguistic and country-specific minimum distributed mainly in the social, domestic, socio-cultural and business spheres of communication; paralinguistic means accompanying language contact and the possibility of their interpretation in respective communication situations; skillful use of style and observance of the appropriateness of the speech.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1 of the Program of the discipline. The grade is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who have scored a minimum positive score of 60 points receive "passed". Students who do not score the minimum positive score of 60 points receive a "fail" grade. Students who have scored less than 60 points in total for the semester must pass the test by completing material on the topics for which they have a debt in the form of translations, abstracts, glossary, presentation and/or writing a test.
