Learning outcomes
LO 9. To use appropriate scientific investigations and apply professional research skills in the provision of social assistance. LO 11. To use prevent methods for deviations in mental development, behavioral disorders, interpersonal relationships breakdown, for conflict resolution, for prevention of social risks and difficult life circumstances.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know: the basics of philosophy, physics, chemistry, biology, physiology of the human nervous system in the scope of general secondary education; the basics of anatomy and physiology of the human nervous system.
2. To be able: to evaluate, analyze, generalize, adequately apply scientific concepts.
3. To possess: the skills of independent study, the ability to process scientific literature sources; elementary skills of generalization and systematization of the processed material.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at studying the nature, essence, structure, functions, forms, levels of manifestation, patterns and mechanisms of functioning of mental processes: cognitive - sensation, perception, memory, imagination, thinking, speech; regulatory - attention, emotions, will; mental phenomena of consciousness, self-awareness, activity, cognition and self-knowledge.

Oral responses (presentation at the seminar, participation in discussions and debates, additions): 30/18 points
Presentations: 20/12 points
Final control work: 10/6 points
The maximum number of points for work during the semester is 60.
The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam.
The maximum number of points that can be obtained by a student is 40 points on a 100-point scale.
The form of examination is written. Types of tasks - open questions; the answer to open question 1 - in 33%; the answer to open question 2 - in 33%, to open question 3 - in 34% of the total score. The minimum threshold level of the exam grade at which the exam is considered passed cannot be less than 24 points.
A student is not allowed to take the exam if he or she scored less than 36 points during the semester.
