Learning outcomes
LO 1. Solve complex tasks and problems that require updating and integrating knowledge in conditions of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements. LO 2. Critically evaluate the results of scientific research and various sources of knowledge about social work practices, formulate conclusions and recommendations for their implementation. LO 3. Use foreign sources when performing tasks of research and applied activities, express yourself in a foreign language, both orally and in writing. LO 11. Organize joint activities of specialists in various industries and non-professionals, prepare them for performing social work tasks, initiate team building and coordinate teamwork. LO 15. Develop criteria and performance indicators for professional activities, apply them in evaluating the work performed, and offer recommendations for ensuring the quality of social services and management decisions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: theoretical foundations of social sciences, basic concepts in management, and social work Be able to: analyze the content of key concepts of social work, summarize and correlate different conceptual approaches to the study of social phenomena, analyze the existing legal framework for social services provision, apply theoretical models in practice Possess: basic skills of public communication, activity planning, performance appraisal, elementary skills of research, methodological analysis and modeling.
Course content
The course is aimed on providing students knowledge on the meaning of quality management in social service, it`s definition and historical development and also analysis of international models of quality improvement in social services. Tasks of the course is to assure that the students will develop a number of general competences and certain professional competences, including ability to assess the process and outcome of professional activities and the quality of social services; ability to professional reflection; ability to joint activities and group motivation, ability to effectively manage the organization in the field of social work; ability to master the skills of independent acquisition of new knowledge. The course consists of two modules: (1) introduction to quality improvement; (2) quality management in social service.

Lecture, seminars, hands-on training, discussion, simulation game, individual project
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation of students is carried out during all types of classes activities and the results of independent work. During the classes are evaluated: oral answer, additions, presentations, practical tasks (40 points in total). The individual project is evaluated with 20 points. It is possible to get maximum 60 points for work during the semester. Final evaluation is conducted as an exam (test plus some additional assignments). It is possible to get maximum 40 points for the final exam. Knowledge and skills are assessed by 100-score scale. 0-59 points – F (Fail) 60-74 points– C (Satisfactory) 75-89 points – B (Good) 90-100 points – A (Excellent)
