Learning outcomes
1. to understand the specifics and features of the implementation of cultural ideas, images, and meanings, as well as to critically evaluate the possibilities of their interpretation to solve important problems for a society. 2. to analyze textual and visual sources of information about cultural phenomena and processes; to verify information according to professional objectives. 3. to analyze cultural rights and human freedoms, forms and mechanisms of their identification, inculturation, cultural adaptation, taking into account their regional specifics. 6.. to communicate fluently in official and foreign languages orally and in writing to discuss professional issues, presentation of research results and projects.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Students should know the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process; basic cultural theories and methods of cultural studies, including methods of philosophy of culture, cultural anthropology, sociology of culture, economics of culture; basic cultural concepts and categories; 2. Be able to collect and interpret information about the phenomena and phenomena of culture, cultural processes and events; apply the main terms, categories and classifications of cultural studies in the analysis of socio-cultural phenomena and processes; analyze works of art and works of design, highlighting their belonging to a certain era, style, genre, form and content load, 3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; .
Course content
The educational discipline introduces students to the basics of cultural and historical typology of Latin American and North American regions. The subject, tasks, theoretical foundations, methodologies, main directions and problems of modern studies of the culture of the USA and Latin America are determined. The cultural and historical typology of the Latin American region, the regional unity and the national distinctiveness of the culture of the countries of the Latin American region are considered. The origin of the Indians is explained in the context of the problem of cultural identity and cultural influence. The cultures of pre-Columbian civilizations and their uniqueness, the culture of Latin America during the colonial period and cultural symbiosis are analyzed. Concepts of the historical and cultural identity of Latin America, Latin American thought and foreign cultural studies of the 20th century about the identity of Latin American culture are consistently considered. The assimilative possibilities of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the USA, the providentialist and emblematic character of the Puritans' thinking are considered. The values of Puritanism as a formative component of the development of American national consciousness are analyzed. American art and the formation of the socio-psychological foundations of the "American character" are considered.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentations, discussions, additions: 18/30 points. 2. Analytical work based on primary sources: 6 / 18 points. 3. Presentation of self-study: 24/32 points. 4. Test: 12 / 20 points The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points obtained for independent work. All types of work for the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension of 80 points - a minimum of 48 points Final test in written form - 12 / 20 points Final evaluation in the form of credit: The final number of points for the discipline (maximum 100 points) is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures.
