Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know - the basic ecosystem laws, methodological approaches to the knowledge of eco- and biosystems (discipline "Fundamentals of Ecology"). Its theoretical core consists of such sciences as general ecology, hydrobiology, zoology, botany, human and animal physiology, plant physiology and biochemistry, chemistry. 2. Be able to - interpret the basic ecotoxicological characteristics, navigate in regulatory framework for environmental pollution, calculate ecotoxicological indicators. 3. Have the skills to perform basic ecotoxicological research (bioindication and biotesting), mathematical calculations, calculation of the limiting indicator of harm, determine the overall negative effects of the impact and quantify the quality of the environment
Course content
The teaching of this discipline is aimed at studying the concepts, terminology, principles, methods, methodological approaches and theories of modern ecotoxicology. In the course of studying the discipline, examples are given and the meaning of and is demonstrated practical application of the main laws and principles for optimizing the state of ecosystems, environmental management. Emphasis is placed on the inextricable link between the environment and public health; the study of ecotoxicity, the main types of toxicants, their origin, ways of entering ecosystems, accumulation, redistribution between biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems and the consequences of their impact; environmental risks due to toxic factors, their assessment, risk management and the ability to minimize negative ones effects on ecosystems, biota and human health
