Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Virology", "Principles of safety in the virological laboratory", "Identification of viruses", "Genetics of viruses", "Human and animal viruses". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general virology, etc. academic disciplines to solve specific scientific and practical problems, work with scientific and scientific-methodical literature. 3. Guided by unified protocols of disease diagnosis, according to standard pathomorphological and laboratory methods to differentiate prion infection in the patient. Using molecular biological methods, using standard protocols, to determine the presence of infection in plants due to viroids.
Course content
The discipline is designed to summarize the properties of prions, taxonomy of prions, prion diseases of humans and animals. Provides an opportunity to master the knowledge of the diagnosis of prion diseases using various methods and the development of treatments for prion diseases. The acquired knowledge can be used both in research of related sciences and in interdisciplinary projects and which require knowledge of this discipline.
