Learning outcomes
1.1 Know the principles and stages of the research process. 1.2 Know the structure of the project of sociological research and the functions of its elements. 1.3 Know the basic types of research design and the possibilities of their application in sociology. 2.1 Choose the optimal research design and appropriate methods of data collection and analysis. 2.2 Prepare and evaluate research projects using experimental, non-experimental, qualitative, quantitative or mixed design.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic methods of collecting and analyzing sociological data. 2. Be able to prepare a program of sociological research. 3. Have the skills to work with English-language scientific literature.
Course content
I. Structure of the research process, types of design and research strategies. 1. Introduction: Research design. Subject, tasks, structure and requirements of the course. 2. The essence and stages of the research process. 3. Research design in preparation for the study. 4. Classification of types of design in sociological research. ІІ. Choice and justification of research design. 5. Rationale for choosing an experimental or non-experimental research design. 6. Rationale for the choice of quantitative, qualitative and mixed research design. 7. Preparation of a research project with the selected research design.

Tasks on topics 5-6, LR 2.1, LR 2.2 = 4 points / 2 points 4. CW 2 (research project and presentation) with topics 5-7, LR 2.1, LR 2.2 = 40 points / 24 points final assessment: Exam LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 1.3, LR 2.1 = 40 points / 24 points
