Learning outcomes
Understand the basic concepts and categories of global value chains. Understand the features of modern trade policy. Know and understand the differences of modern global value chains from their previous less developed forms. Know and understand the impact of key environmental factors on global value chains. Understand the basic principles of building organizational structures and systems of relationships within the functioning of global value chains. Understand the impact of a cross-border tariff design strategy on value chains, in particular how and where materials, components and finished goods are supplied and manufactured. Be able to use the knowledge and methods gained during the course for further learning of the student, as well as for practical use in the analysis of global value chains of an international enterprise.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basics of political economy, world economy, international trade, the functioning of multinational enterprises and global finance.
2. Ability to understand the basic principles of the world economy and global value chains of international enterprises.
3. Have basic skills in collecting and processing economic information, critical thinking, working with a significant amount of theoretical and empirical data, while providing their own conclusions and suggestions.
Course content
Module 1 "Theoretical foundations of global value chains". Global value chains: theoretical foundations. 21st century global value chains. Features of the modern trading system of the world. The current stage of development of the global economy. Features of GVC functioning. Influence of modern technologies on GVC. Module 2 "Practical issues of functioning of global value chains". World Trade Organization (WTO), World Customs Organization (WCO), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and global value chains. GVC and international organizations. Transfer pricing within the MNE GVC. Practical issues of GVC functioning.
