Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To implement the modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific philological field. PLO 5. To find optimal ways of effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 11. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering the course include: successful completion of the Basics of Literary Editing of Translated Texts, Comparative Stylistics of English and Ukrainian Languages, General Theory of Translation courses; knowledge of the theoretical foundations of modern translation studies and the principles of translated texts editing; command of Ukrainian (C2) and English (C1) languages, skills of professional pre-translational analysis of the source text and comparative analysis of source and target texts, skills of publicist and scientific, and popular scientific texts.
Course content
The purpose of practical training is to consolidate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of translated text editing, in particular self-editing and collective editing, with an emphasis on respective stages of editing activity and the associated difficulties; as well as to improve practical translation skills and in-depth professional analysis of original works, and to familiarize with the peculiarities of working on a translation project in the role of a translator and/or editor. Editing practice is a mandatory component of the master's training process. It is held in the II semester, duration is 6 weeks. Practical training includes two stages - self-editing and translated text editing. Each stage involves two types of activities: pre-translational analysis and translation of the English-language text and self-editing for the first stage, and editorial analysis and practical implementation of the conclusions from the analysis for the second stage.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The following educational activities are planned: group advisory and educational meetings, individual consultations, and group and independent work. In particular, the practical training program provides for the preparation of interim oral reports; cooperation with classmates in the roles of "translator"-"translator", "editor"-"editor", "editor"-"translator", "translator"-"editor"; preparation of a written report and report materials (including pre-translation analysis and own translations after self-editing and pre-editing analysis and general/literary/scientific/technical editing and proofreading of a translated text; oral reports and presentation of results.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the practical training period the following activities are subject to evaluation: interim oral reports at group advisory and educational meetings (15 points); timeliness of submission and quality of interim materials (5 points); pre-translational analysis (10 points); self-editing (15 points); pre-editing analysis (15 points); editing of a translated text (15 points). The final assessment is carried out in the form of a differential assessment. The differential assessment is conducted in English, and involves the defence of a report on the the practical training results, which consists of two parts: a speech/presentation, valued at a maximum of 15 points and answers to the questions of the manager(s) of the practice, valued at a maximum of 10 points. The final grade is formed by the points received during the practical training and the points received at the defence: 75 points (75%) - control during the practical training and 25 points (25%) - defence.
