Learning outcomes
The students are to achieve such competencies and skills as: ability to critically comprehend the provisions of the current legislation of Ukraine in health care domain from the standpoint of compliance with the principles of bioethics; ability to be able to solve legal and ethical problems that arise during the implementation of medical, pharmaceutical and other activities that use human-related technologies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student knows the basic terms, prerequisites, principles and rules of bioethics. The student develops variants of legal standpoint to protect human rights in the field of health care; drafts the legal documents; solves relevant legal issues taking into account biotic principles and international and national human rights standards. The student is able to make reasonable decisions on the application of biotic principles and legal norms to resolve disputes and other complex situations that arise during their implementation by medical staff / health care institutions in their activities for the provision of medical care / services.
Course content
The students develop within studies of the discipline: the modern knowledge in the field of bioethics; the ability to communicate their conclusions; the amount of knowledge and the ability to construct explanations to specialists and those lay to bioethics and law; skills to demonstrate selected legal positions based on advising clients or team members.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar (report, presentation, participation in the discussion), self-study work (essay).
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms of mid-term assessment are to the discretion of an educator corresponding to the educational programme. The teacher, who is conducting seminars, gives a certain number of points earned through mid-term assessment and fixes it in academic progress register. If a student misses a lecture or a seminar for valid reason, they can make it up in free from classes time (during teacher’s scheduled consultation hours) by participation in a discussion, fulfilment of a writing task, writing an essay on topic awarded by a teacher, solving a task etc. The classes which were not made up are not assessed. It is not allowed to make up the missed classes starting from 10 days prior examination period.
